What are workplace assessments?
Workplace assessments are thorough evaluations of an employee’s physical work environment and challenges they are facing in their role. They identify factors that may impact an individual’s ability to perform effectively and comfortably.
Assessments can take a range of forms depending on the needs of the individual, their role and company requirements:
- DSE/full ergonomic assessment – covering the physical environment and desk/chair/display screen set up.
- Holistic work-place assessment – a broader assessment covering all aspects of an individual’s role from the physical desk set up, to challenges they may be facing in the workplace. For example, someone struggling to contribute to a team meeting or an employee needing help to gather their ideas and help with their organisation and time management.
At Remtek Workplace, we specialise in providing detailed assessments tailored to individual needs, to support individuals, teams and organisations to succeed.
You do not need to have a diagnosed medical, physical or neurodiverse condition to have a workplace assessment. Every employee would benefit from having the correct equipment and support to empower them to succeed in their role. This will help prevent future issues and potentially time off work due to capability issues, stress or a physical condition.
The Remtek Approach to Workplace Assessments
Our approach to workplace assessments is grounded in our commitment to inclusivity and productivity. We conduct comprehensive evaluations to understand each employee’s unique requirements and recommend a package of support to help them succeed in their role.
Whether they are in physical pain and would benefit from a range of equipment to make their workplace more comfortable or they are struggling to focus and would benefit from having some assistive technology solutions into their daily duties, this holistic approach ensures that every recommendation we make is practical, sustainable, and beneficial for both individuals and the organisation.
It is amazing just how a few small adjustments can make a huge difference to an individual’s efficiency, effectiveness and job satisfaction.
Research showed that 49.6% of employees who had adjustments tailored to a ‘great extent’ wanted to stay with their current employer compared with only 17% of employees who did not have their adjustments tailored.
Overcoming Everyday Challenges with Workplace Assessments
Many employees now have hybrid working patterns but continue to hot desk or work off a dining room chair and table.
In 2022, a quarter (25%) of UK employees worked from home at least some of the time (ONS). 13% were working from home all of the time in 2022 (ONS).
An increased awareness of neurodivergent conditions (diagnosed or undiagnosed), organisations are starting to realise how small adjustments may make a huge difference to an individual struggling with certain aspects of their work.
Research confirms that only 29.9% of individuals declared that they currently had any formal adjustments in place.
Such challenges in the workplace can significantly hinder an employee’s performance and job satisfaction. Through our workplace assessments, our team can identify and address these challenges head-on.
We provide ergonomic solutions to alleviate physical strain, recommend assistive technologies and tailored training to use technology to maximise an individual’s efficiency and effectiveness. We may also suggest coaching to provide human support working with an individual (and their manager) to provide practical strategies to help fulfil their potential at work. By proactively tackling these challenges, we help create a more supportive and efficient workplace for all.
