Supporting the Government’s Vision for Disability Employment

The UK government has set an ambitious goal with their vision for Disability Employment: to increase the number of disabled employees entering and excelling in the workforce.

With over 14 million disabled people in the UK, this commitment is a drive to create more inclusive workplaces. (National Disability Strategy)

At Remtek Workplace, we believe that the success of a business starts with its people. Our mission is to empower employees to perform at their best. We support businesses to create inclusive environments where everyone, including neurodiverse and disabled colleagues, can work comfortably and effectively, contributing their unique strengths.

Our innovative solutions enable businesses to foster accessible, empowering workplaces where everyone can succeed.

The Current Landscape: Barriers to Disability Employment

Despite increased awareness, disabled employees continue to face significant challenges in securing and sustaining meaningful employment. These barriers include:

Physical Accessibility

Many workplaces remain ill-equipped to accommodate mobility or sensory impairments, creating exclusion from the outset.

Technological Gaps

The lack of adaptive tools and assistive technologies often prevents employees from performing to their full potential.

Cultural and Attitudinal Bias

Misconceptions about productivity and capability perpetuate workplace discrimination and limit opportunities.

Limited Support Structures

Without ongoing training and personalised accommodations, employees can struggle to integrate and progress in their roles.

These obstacles contribute to employment rates for disabled employees lagging far behind those of non-disabled people, highlighting the need for systemic change. As outlined in government initiatives such as Access to Work and proposed policies in parliamentary reports, creating equitable employment opportunities is not just a moral imperative but an economic one.

The Government’s Vision for Inclusive Employment hinge on several core strategies:

Strengthening Access to Work Programmes

Access To Work

Expanding funding and streamlining applications to provide disabled employees with the resources they need to succeed.

These steps are designed to tackle the root causes of exclusion, empowering disabled employees to access meaningful employment and perform at their best.

However, achieving this vision requires collaboration between government, businesses, and specialist partners like Remtek Workplace. As a one-stop shop for innovative solutions, we support inclusivity through ergonomic equipment, assistive technology, training, and bespoke assessments.

Promoting Workplace Inclusivity:

Inclusion goes beyond physical and technological solutions. It’s about fostering a culture where everyone feels valued and respected. We work with organisations to build inclusive practices that benefit all employees.

Key Initiatives:

  • Leadership Training: Helping managers understand the value of diversity and their role in fostering inclusivity.
  • Awareness Campaigns: Educating teams about disabilities to break down stereotypes and biases.
  • Policy Development: Supporting businesses in creating inclusive hiring, onboarding, and retention policies.

The Business Case for Disability Inclusion

Workplace inclusion presents a strategic advantage. Research shows that diverse workplaces are more innovative, productive, and resilient. Here are some tangible benefits:

Increased Innovation

A diverse workforce brings varied perspectives, driving creativity and problem-solving. Organisations that embrace inclusivity are better equipped to meet the needs of diverse customers and adapt to market changes.

Enhanced Employee Engagement

When employees feel valued and supported, their engagement and job satisfaction increase. This, in turn, reduces turnover and boosts overall productivity.

Strengthened Brand Reputation

Companies that prioritise inclusion send a powerful message about their values. This not only attracts top talent but also resonates with socially conscious consumers.

Driving the Future of Disability Employment

The journey toward inclusivity is ongoing, and there is always more to be done. As businesses adapt to changing expectations, they must embrace innovative solutions that align with both ethical values and strategic goals.

Our Vision

At Remtek Workplace, we are committed to driving this change. By combining expertise, empathy, and cutting-edge technology, we aim to create a future where workplaces are not just accessible but empowering.

Together with our partners, we strive to:

  • Advocate for greater awareness and investment in assistive technologies.

  • Lead by example, demonstrating the transformative impact of inclusivity.

Had a lovely experience with my training with them today! Philip was the one to train me, and he did an outstanding job. Very patient with my lack of tech skills, went above and beyond to show and explain all my software features and even when we had some time left on the session he showed me how to use another software to help me with my university citations. Absolutely brilliant! So helpful, attentive and excellent customer service skills. Would definitely recommend Remtek to anyone and specially having Philip as a guide!

Excellent training! Saved me hundreds of hours of frustration. Tom Lawton, a fantastic trainer, is patient and calm, offering clear explanations of all the software. We also discussed my specific study needs, found solutions to my questions about integrating the software into my study style, and suggested ways the software could support my research. Highly recommend this service!

I’ve had 4 hours of training with Patrick and he’s been very helpful. He goes at a slow and steady pace for me and made adjustments to accommodate me needing 1 hour instead of 2. We are half way through and may not need my full allocated hours but he’s still helping and willing to give me all the time. Thank you.

Tony did my original assessment, he spent so much time ensuring that we had covered all of the issues that could affect the way in which I work. He recommended equipment to help with my position and posture whilst working at the laptop and keyboard etc. The equipment was then delivered by Ryan who had previously sent me a message to confirm delivery date a details. On arrival Ryan confirmed what was being delivered then built/constructed the chair and unpacked all of the equipment and furniture. Ryan was attentive at all times, ensuring that I understood what each item was for and how it was operated.

the training session was nice. i had an employee named jaimie and he explained everything to me in detail. he made it interactive and explained the features and how you would use them. he was patient and would guide my mouse to a button when i couldn't see it, making easier for me to find what i needed to press on. training was comfortable and most of the questions that i would ask were answered before i even needed to ask them.
