Disability Neurodiversity Awareness Training

What it is:

Disability Neurodiversity Awareness Training is a 3-hour (2.5 hours with a break) interactive session designed to increase awareness and understanding of disabilities and neurodiversity in the workplace.

How it works:

An experienced coach or trainer leads the session, creating a safe and supportive environment for employees to learn about different disabilities and neurodiverse conditions. Through interactive activities and discussions, participants will explore the challenges faced by neurodiverse individuals and gain a deeper understanding of how to create an inclusive, supportive work environment.

The goal of this training is to promote empathy, foster inclusion, and provide practical strategies for supporting colleagues with diverse needs.

Disability Impact Training

What it is:

Disability Impact Training is a one-off, 90-minute session aimed at individuals who have recently received a new diagnosis. This training helps individuals understand how their diagnosis may impact their work and how to adapt.

How it works:

In this session, a coach will discuss practical strategies and tools for managing the impact of the new diagnosis in the workplace. This might include using assistive technology for dyslexia, learning how to manage hyperfocus or multitasking for ADHD, or asking for reasonable adjustments in the workplace for those with ASD.

The session provides a safe space to explore solutions, ask questions, and gain the confidence to navigate workplace challenges effectively.

Disability awareness and inclusion training FAQ

What is disability awareness and inclusion training?

Disability awareness and inclusion training helps employees and managers understand how disability and long-term health conditions affect people at work, and how workplace behaviour, systems and assumptions can either remove or create barriers. Effective training focuses on practical decision-making, not just awareness.

How is this different from standard EDI or awareness training?

This training is workplace-specific and outcome-led. It focuses on real scenarios, reasonable adjustments, communication and managerial confidence rather than abstract concepts, terminology lists or performative inclusion messaging.

Who is this training designed for?

The training is designed for managers, HR teams, leadership groups and client-facing staff who make decisions that affect disabled employees. Content is adapted to role responsibility rather than delivered as a generic session.

Does the training cover neurodiversity and hidden disabilities?

Yes. The training explicitly covers neurodivergent profiles and non-visible conditions, including how they may affect communication, workload, sensory experience and performance at work.

Is this training relevant to Equality Act responsibilities?

Yes. The training is grounded in the practical application of the Equality Act, particularly around reasonable adjustments, decision-making and avoiding discriminatory assumptions in day-to-day workplace practice.

Is the training delivered remotely or in person?

Training can be delivered remotely or face-to-face. Both formats are structured, interactive and facilitated by specialists with workplace assessment and inclusion expertise.

How long is the training session?

Sessions are typically delivered as half-day or tailored formats depending on organisational need, role mix and learning objectives.

How many people can attend?

Training is commonly delivered to small groups, typically up to 10 participants, to allow meaningful discussion, challenge and application to real workplace situations.

Is this suitable for organisations at an early stage of inclusion work?

Yes. The training is designed to build confidence and competence regardless of current maturity, focusing on practical foundations rather than assumed prior knowledge.

What outcomes should organisations expect?

Organisations should expect increased confidence in discussing disability, clearer understanding of reasonable adjustments, reduced reliance on assumptions, and more consistent, defensible workplace decisions.

Is this training linked to Access to Work or workplace adjustments?

Yes. The training complements Access to Work and workplace adjustment processes by helping managers and teams understand how to identify needs, respond appropriately and implement support effectively.
